This Season’s Mariners Players to Watch

The 2023 Seattle Mariners season is underway and fans are eager to see how the team will perform after a playoff appearance last season.  Returning the majority of the great core players from last season and a few new additions, the team is on the rise and looks to take another step forward this season!  Let’s take a look at some of the players that could make a big impact this upcoming season.

Outfielder Jarred Kelenic is one to keep your eye on this year. Kelenic was acquired in a trade with the New York Mets in 2021 and is considered one of the top prospects in all of baseball. He has great speed, power, and the ability to hit for a high average. The expectations are high this season for this 23-year-old.

Pitcher Luis Castillo has started his 2023 season with the Mariners with an ERA of 0.00. Castillo is one of the top pitchers in the MLB with his sliders and fastballs sitting at 96-97 mph. He has great field vision and pitching IQ, which places him in the top 20 starting pitchers in the 2023 season. With the way that he is looking so far with the Mariners, he is definitely an AL Cy Young Award contender for this year.

At 22, the reigning Rookie of the Year, Julio Rodriguez, is already one of the top players in all of Major League Baseball. He’s drawn comparisons to some of the game’s greats with his combination of power, speed, and defensive ability. With his impressive performance in the 2022 season, including a .284 batting average with 25 doubles, 3 triples, 28 home runs, 75 RBI’s and 25 stolen bases, we expect nothing less from him in the 2023 season. As he prepares to face the best pitchers in the world, there is no doubt that Julio Rodriguez has the potential to become a star in Seattle and throughout the league.

Ty France had a solid 2022 season with the Seattle Mariners, as he emerged as a key contributor on offense. His ability to hit for both average and power made him a threat at the plate, and his versatility in the field allowed him to play multiple positions. France finished the season with a .274 batting average, 20 home runs, and 83 RBIs, earning him recognition as one of the Mariners’ top performers. As a result, he is poised to play a vital role in the team’s success in the years to come.

Overall, the 2023 season looks promising for the Mariners. With these young and talented players in the mix, there’s a good chance Seattle will start to turn things around. If you’re a Mariners fan, make sure you get your tickets early, because you won’t want to miss out on watching these players doing what they do best.
