The Utah Hockey Club, a new NHL franchise starting in the 2024-25 season, originated from the Arizona Coyotes' assets and staff after the Coyotes were suspended for failing to secure a new arena. Owned by Ryan Smith, also owner of the Utah Jazz, the team joins the Central Division of the Western Conference as a distinct new entity. Their team name, logo, and design will be finalized before the 2025-26 season. The Delta Center in Salt Lake City will host their games, starting with a preseason match against the LA Kings on September 23, followed by their regular season debut against the Chicago Blackhawks on October 8, and concluding with a home game against the St. Louis Blues on April 15.
