Wamu Theater is located next to CenturyLink Field in the Sodo neighborhood one mile south of downtown Seattle. Originally built in 2006, WaMu theater has a capacity between 3,300 and 7,000 depending on the configuration. Most shows are general admission, with a pit in front of the stage and risers in the back. Food and drink service are readily available, but must be consumed in the designated area. WaMu was originally named after Washington Mutual, but after the company’s bankruptcy in 2008, the theater kept its name with the abbreviation now meaning the “Washington Music Theater.” Being so close to downtown Seattle, transportation options are plentiful. The theater is located right off of I-90, within a short walk of Union Street Station, the Sodo Link Rail station, and Chinatown-International District Link Rail Station, and many bus stops.
